The speed and other possibilities of this new long distance communications tool (transfer and widespread distribution of computer documents) are attracting those concerned with research in the field of the humanities more and more. For the past two years, I have been involved in this sector by starting and maintaining the mailing list of LETTERE ITALIANE, which unites scholars of Italian literature throghout the world. In this article, I will talk about the function of mailing lists in the research community.
