Il Centro Linguistico I seminari COMUNITA' VIRTUALI THE COMMUNITY OF INTERPRETERS AND THE RE-DEFINITION OF THE CONCEPT OF THE EDITION Raul MORDENTI The passage from the Gutenberg to Internet is not only a question of new technology, but also - and above all - of a new epistemology. In particular, the need to make the implicit explicit (connected to computers) concerns norms for the edition as well as the circulation of texts. The author tries to outline the framework for these problems, concentrating his attention on two "poles" of textual criticism: on the one hand, on the very concept of the edition(or better, of editions, in the plural: mechanical, diplomatic, critical); on the other, on the existence of a "guiding committee" (or, "committee of interpreters"), understood not only as a general recipient, but also as a decisive factor in the regulation and establishment of norms in textual criticism.
