Il Centro Linguistico I seminari INTERNET E LE MUSE TEORIA E PRASSI DELLA CODIFICA DEL TESTO NELL'ANALISI COMPUTERIZZATA DELL'EPISTOLARIO DI GEORGE HAMANN Chiara COLOMBO L'elaborazione elettronica di testi è sempre finalizzata alla produzione di risultati concreti. In particolare, il lavoro qui preso in esame, che riguarda l'edizione critica in 7 volumi del carteggio di J.G. Hamann (1730 - 1788), pubblicato presso l'Insel Verlag, era finalizzato alla pubblicazione di concordanze lemmatizzate, ormai portate a compimento in versione cartacea. Un aspetto teorico dell'informatica linguistica che forse merita di essere messo in maggiore evidenza è quello della codifica del testo, in quanto i risultati ottenibili attraverso l'elaborazione elettronica sono tutti virtualmente definiti dal sistema di codifica applicato per la registrazione dei documenti cartacei in alfabeto elettronico. Si intende delineare il concetto di testo, inteso come messaggio ideale e documento concreto, chiarendo i diversi livelli in cui esso si struttura e le corrispondenti tipologie di codifica che ne consentono la fedele ed esaustiva riproduzione in machine readable form. Con riferimento al trattamento informatico dell'epistolario hamanniano si illustrerà come la struttura di ciascun testo, definita dal genere letterario cui appartiene e dalle sue caratteristiche particolari, intervenga a determinare la configurazione del sistema di codifica. THEORY AND PRACTICE IN THE CODIFICATION OF THE TEXT IN THE COMPUTERIZED ANALYSIS OF THE EPISTOLARY OF GEORGE HAMANN The electronic elaboration of texts has always aimed at the producing concrete results. In particular, the project in question, the critical edition of the seven volumes of J.G. Hamann's (1730-1788) papers, published by Insel Verlag, was concerned with the publication of concordances with entries, to be produced in paper in the final version. A theoretical aspect of linguistic information which is perhaps worth bringing to the forefront is the codification of the text, since the results which can be obtained through electronic elaboration are virtually defined by the system of codification applied to the listing of documents in paper in the electronic alphabet. The idea is to delineate the concept of the text, to be understood as ideal message and concrete document, thus making clearer the different levels in which it is structured and the corresponding codification typologies which allow a faithful, exhaustive reproduction in machine readable form. With reference to the automatized treatment of Hamann's epistolary, the author shows how the structure of each text, once its literary genre and special characteristics were defined, determined the configuration of the codification system.
